The suburb of Doral is located in north-central Miami-Dade County, not far from Miami International Airport. Because of this convenient location, Doral has a large number of shops, financial institutions and businesses, especially importers and exporters. For this reason, the city was recently included in Fortune Small Business and CNN Money’s list of top 100 cities with the best mix of business advantages and lifestyle appeal. Anchored by the Trump National Doral Miami, this popular neighborhood offers a plethora of opportunities for both work and play, all in a convenient location, which is why it’s one of the area’s fastest growing cities.
The city of Doral, which started off as a 2,400 acre swampland, was purchased by real estate pioneers Alfred and Doris Kaskel in the late 1950’s, with the intention of building a golf course and hotel. The couple’s vision became a reality in 1962 when they opened the Doral Hotel and Country Club, cleverly combining their two first names. In it’s second year of operation, the Kaskels hosted the first Doral Open Invitational which was Florida’s largest PGA event at the time.
The area quickly became Miami’s golfing “hot spot” with guests travelling between the Beach and the Country Club regularly. In the early 80’s, the grandson of Alfred and Doris developed Doral Estates which was soon followed by Doral Park, and the area saw a sudden influx of young families relocating to the new communities. After a short building moratorium to protect the well fields, Doral experienced tremendous growth and work began to incorporate the bolstering community. Soon after, shops and services, as well as schools and industry rounded out the city, which was finally officially established in January 2003. In a very short period of time, Doral has attracted positive attention from Fortune 100 companies, a slew of small businesses, and new residents, including both young families and retirees.
The city is still centralized around the golf course and hotel first established by the Kaskels, but is now the Trump National Doral, offering the highest level of luxury and services that is expected with the Trump brand. The prestigious resort boasts all new luxurious accommodations, five championship golf courses, the recently remodeled Royal Palm Pool, complete with private cabanas and al fresco dining from the new Palm Grill, a state-of-the-art fitness center committed to promoting health and wellness to all guests, a 48,000 square-foot Spa & Salon with 33 treatment rooms and a wide variety of signature services and treatments available, and the new BLT Prime, with indoor and outdoor seating offering breathtaking views of the iconic Blue Monster course. And what would a luxurious resort destination be without a wide array of shopping opportunities around the corner? Of course there’s shopping within the resort, but for everyday needs, Miami International Mall is close by. Offering a large selection of stores, you’ll find just about everything you want and need. In addition, the food scene in Doral is phenomenal, with huge Cuban, Venezuelan, Colombian, and other South American influences. From local ma and pop eateries to five-star fine dining, the city of Doral has something for everyone.
The city of Doral is a perfect blend of luxury, business, and small family living all within easy access to the amenities of downtown Miami and Miami Beach. The community has come a long way since incorporation, nearly 12 years ago, and has quickly become one of the fastest growing cities in the area.
